Marketing Problem

Urgent! I’m working on my spoken Romanian. There’s plenty to do, and the citizens of Bucharest have been trying to give me a helping hand. This includes everyone: salesladies, taxi drivers, doctors, dentists, friends, friends of friends, my sister-in-law and the guys who try to rip us off by pretending to be our garbage men. This is surprisingly generous since everyone speaks some English, and it would be easy to fob me off with lines culled from the American pop music pouring from every radio. But there’s more to it than that. Perfect strangers make every attempt to make me feel at home. They try to get to know me, and they tell me about themselves. This is what I’ve heard. “Romanians are thieves.
